Finding the Right Community

How can a community make a difference in the lives of others? On this episode, I sit down with Emilienne Vigier, one of the newest World Vision ambassadors!

How to Find Right Community

1) Values and Interests

Finding a group that aligns with our philosophy can make a big difference in the quality of interactions. Look for communities where people share similar hobbies or passions—whether it’s outdoor activities, crafting, or education-related activities.

2) Accessibility

A nearby community makes regular engagement more convenient. Consider the types of events the community offers and whether they fit the schedule and comfort level like small playdates. larger gatherings or virtual meetups.

3) Shared Goals

If there are specific goals for ourselves or to a child example educational or recreational, seek out a community that aligns with or supports those objectives. For example, if we want to raise a child bilingual, finding a language-focused group that can help.

4) Comfort and Safety

It should feel comfortable and safe within the community. A positive atmosphere where you can openly share, ask questions, and receive non-judgmental feedback is essential for lasting connections.

5) Emotional Support

A supportive community provides a safe space to share frustrations, fears, and triumphs with others who understand what is going on or what has been that person going through.

Being around others who are experiencing similar challenges can make you feel less alone. It helps to know that others are going through the same sleepless nights, tantrums, and worries. During tough times, a community can lift us up, offer encouragement, and remind us that we’re doing our best.

6) A Sense of Belonging

Being part of a community gives a sense of belonging. It creates a bond between people who share similar experiences and challenges, offering reassurance that we’re not navigating the journey alone. Celebrating milestones—whether it’s the toddler’s first steps or overcoming a particularly tough phase—becomes more meaningful when shared with others who understand.

God has already given us more than we could ever dream of; it’s up to us to step up and share that with the world, filling in what’s missing
