What is the secret of having a balanced life?

A LOT OF TIME MANAGEMENT. Learn to schedule EVERYTHING, and maximize your time, by being productive, and not just busy. Learn to avoid multi-tasking, and instead focus on your priorities and goals.

The constant problem we have is that we let one aspect of our life define the entirety of it. We are multi-faceted human beings capable in doing a lot of things. Remember that “one” thing won’t define your worth! There are so much more to be proud of! You shouldn’t just stay in that one box you’re doing. Yes, it could be a part of you but it shouldn’t technically define everything about you.

And, successful people who are holistically happy and living good lives are the ones living balanced life so, it’s important to allot time for your work, your advocacies and for other things like taking care of yourself physically, emotionally and spiritually.

How do we figure out what to do after college?

Sometimes you have to accept that there is no really concrete next step. You don’t really have to figure it all out at first. Take small steps into becoming the person that you love and creating a life that you personally enjoy. It’s so enjoyable to find things that you love and don’t love along the way. And, the most enjoyable part is knowing more about yourself and rediscovering every step of the way. It’s an adventure!

○ Most people are afraid to do things because they think it’s not going to support what they want to be in the future. But, if you look at every opportunity as an opportunity to grow, you tend to try other things that will eventually lead you to who you are supposed to be! Try all the opportunity that comes your way because everything has a reason why you learn these things.

○ Search for your purpose. Know your goal. From finding it, you’ll realize and know the things you love doing. Also, look for like-minded people that will help you with the path you are taking.

What advice do you have for people who want to switch career paths?

Go back to your purpose. It’s easy to know your HOW, WHEN, WHERE, and WHAT as long as you keep going back to your WHY.

○ Ground yourself. Go back to what you really want to do and what will make you happy. If it’s not aligned with your purpose, then you will never be truly fulfilled.

“You can't let one aspect of your life define everything that you are. You are a multi-faceted human being capable of a lot of things.”

How can one thrive in different work environments?

○ Don’t lose yourself. Some people constantly try to change themselves to fit those who don’t like them but, that should not be the case. Get that confidence to stand up. Stick with who you are. Be proud of it and work on it!

Take into account the criticisms. If there are criticisms along the way, pick the ones that you think are really valid and grow from those points.

○ Surround yourself with the right friends and have a good support system. The right people will give you the right kind of energy and confidence to absorb. Note that you become the 5 people you most hangout with!

o Learn how to reach out and find your mentors. No person can ever thrive just by being on their own and just staying in their shell. Find people that you look up to and can ask advice from.

What do you do when you’re burnt out?

Learn to rest, no matter how long it could take. Take leaves. Take care of yourself. Mental health is physical health, too. There’s no way you can perform your best if mentally you are not healthy. Cry it out if you have to but get back on your feet after.

○ Put yourself away from the environment you are always in. Take yourself out of the box for a bit. Volunteering and taking care of other people instead of focusing on yourself might help you feel better. This will put all your worries away and will help you be grateful for the things around you.

○ Write down your priorities. Recognize the important things that you need to do.

○ Lastly, go back to your WHY, always.
