How to connect with Younger Generation

1) Authenticity and Transparency

Younger generations value genuine communication and authenticity. They can quickly sense insincerity, so be transparent in your messaging and actions. Share both successes and challenges. These young people don't expect you to be perfect. They expect you to be real and vulnerable. Share your mistakes with them.

2) Use Social Media Effectively

Be present where they are, whether it’s social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, or Snapchat. Engage with them through creative content, interactive posts, and short-form video formats.

Prioritize mobile-friendly communication, as most younger users engage with content on their phones.

3) Have real relationships

Whether in personal relationships, communities, or even in the workplace, requires intentionality, empathy, and authentic engagement. This means listening actively without distractions from devices or thinking about your response while the other person is speaking. Deep connections are built when people feel genuinely heard and valued.

4) Engage with Social Causes

This generation is socially conscious. Align with causes they care about, such as sustainability, mental health, social justice, or ethical practices. Show that you’re committed to making a positive difference, not just talking about it.

5) Communicate

They prefer collaborative communication, not top-down. Create opportunities for dialogue and feedback. Interactive content like polls, Q&A sessions, and responding to comments helps build trust and connection.

6) Stay Relevant and Current

Keep up with trends, pop culture, memes, and digital language. However, use it in a way that feels natural to your brand or message, avoiding forced attempts to sound "cool."

7) Be Aware

Mental health is a major concern for younger generations. Acknowledge the importance of well-being and provide supportive resources, creating an environment where they feel heard and understood.

We must build a "Generation for Jesus" that represents a vibrant, forward-thinking expression of Christianity, where faith is lived out with authenticity, relevance, and a desire to impact the world for the better.

This generation is looking for a community, a better community...
