How to Ace your First Job Interview

“HOW TO ACE YOUR FIRST JOB INTERVIEW” #AWJP MINISODE MONDAY SHOW NOTES FROM THE PODCAST:

We want to be at our best state when we do something. First impressions do last but first impressions don’t have to be the only impression that people have of you. If you feel like you’ve been getting a lot of bad first interviews or you haven’t been getting the job that you want, these five points might help you become more confident in the next job interview or maybe in the next date you’ll be having.

1) Dress appropriately

Make sure that you’re wearing something that represents who you are very well. This will change the way you interact with people and how people look at you. It can also change your mood. What you wear really changes the way you carry yourself.

2) Focus on your strengths

The reason why we’re always nervous is because we are well aware of our weaknesses. Focusing on our weaknesses debilitates us from presenting ourselves well. We tend to focus of what we can’t do instead of what we can. Concentrate on your strengths and what you think you can offer the company. But also, be honest with your weaknesses.

3) Do your research

When you do your research, you will know exactly what you are getting into, what you can offer and what the company can offer you. Find the personal connection between you and the company.

4) Answer in the language you’re most comfortable in

Be honest with your interviewer and ask them if you can answer in the language that you can. Tell them beforehand so you won’t struggle answering their questions.

5) Your life does not depend on it

Your work is not who you are. If you do not get that job, always remember that it’s a door closing and another window of opportunity opening. If you do get a job that’s not particularly what you’re aiming for, still go for it. Look at every job as an opportunity to move forward. And when you look at it that way, you will not just grow in that particular job/career path, but you’ll also grow in terms of character and in values.
