How to Create A Powerful Morning Routine

Ever wanted to create a powerful morning routine that could change your mindset the WHOLE DAY?  Joyce had been practicing this “powerful morning routine” to set her mind throughout her day. Sharing in this article the five-step routine she’d been doing, feel free to tweak or craft your own as well on a manner you think would be best helpful for you!

When we think about productivity, I want to focus on not just being productive in the sense that you're doing a lot of things for the activity, but also means that you're able to maximize the hours that you have. And also rest deliberately in between. That's the real productivity. Because if you're just constantly working without breaks, and without really knowing what your goals are and what you're achieving, that's not productivity, that's just busyness. That's the difference between productivity and busyness. And it really starts from the very beginning of your day. If you start your day with a great morning routine, you'll notice that the rest of your day actually follows. (JP)

1) Get up immediately

Don't snooze that alarm. Snoozing the alarm means training the body to procrastinate. This could actually change the circadian rhythm, which overall boosts mood when one sleep and wake up at the same every single day.

2) Don’t check your phone first

When you check your phone first before doing the rest of your morning routine, is that you'll just be super distracted. You might just be panicking over things that do not really need any attention yet. I would suggest that you know, if you could leave your phone outside your room so that you're not constantly using it even before you go to bed, do it. Buying an analogue clock rather than depending on the phone’s alarm clock could be a great idea that would really help set your mind straight keeping yourself from using your phone. (JP)

3) Prioritize your mental health

As a Christian, what Joyce does every morning is to pray, read the Bible, write on her journal and read a book that she thinks could spark positivity. A 10-minute or an hour long of just meditating, reading and writing has really helped her changed mindset and be still when everything around her feels so fast paced. In our world right now, we are constantly bombarded with new information we see online. And being still for a little while trains our brain to focus on something. Choose to slow things down. Also, try to do deep breathing exercise.

Joyce crafter her own adulting journal and made it available to everyone, hoping that this could also help you with your adulthood journey as well!

4) Get moving

Have an intense work out or play badminton. Do whatever that would get the body moving. It will not just help circulate blood flow, but it will help one’s body to get used to actually doing something, something that’s much stronger. Eat right as well. Joyce suggests this one to be on the morning routine because through the day, we get busier so doing it on the first minutes of the day might be a better way.

5) Review your goals

Make a daily to do list, break the day into chunks, and schedule everything. Research shows that people who actually schedule and visualize the things that they want to achieve are able to achieve them better and more efficient than those who don't. A Pomodoro Technique could be helpful to block tasks and time for the day. Another time management technique that we could use is list the top three priorities for the day. What are the top three most important things that you we to achieve within the date and what is urgent. After finishing those three, resting is the next thing to do. Schedule rest as well. Have a room/environment where to could actually rest and work.

And also, don't be too hard on yourself. There are researches that show that not all people are morning people so don’t force yourself to be a morning person if you're not a morning person. You could actually modify this for the kind of personality and the kind of body that you have. (JP)

In a nutshell, get control of life, the time and the way we spend it. Everybody has the same 24 hours within the day, but what separates productive and successful people from those who are not so successful is their way on how they spend these hours productively. It's really just being mindful of the time that we have, and the opportunities that are in front of us. Being mindful with what we have, our bodies, our time, our talents, the more we will be able to understand ourselves and the things we want to achieve.
