Being Your Authentic Self

How can we be authentic and not just an imitation of the person we’re inspired by? How can we know ourselves better? Alec Cuenca and I talk about this and how we can be comfortable being ourselves to enjoy life more!

Where do we start?

1) Know what authenticity truly means.

Being authentic means being true to yourself and living in a way that is aligned with your values and beliefs. It can help you to feel more fulfilled and happy in your life.

2) Be aware.

Developing self-awareness can help you to better understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This can be helpful in identifying areas where you might be hiding or suppressing your true self.

3) Know when to fit in.

Trying to fit in or be someone you're not can lead to feelings of anxiety, stress, and even depression. It's important to embrace your unique qualities and celebrate what makes you different.

If you listen intently, there is something you can learn from any person.

How Can We Get Better At These?

1) Express yourself!

Expressing yourself in creative ways, whether through art, music, writing, or other means, can be a powerful way to connect with your authentic self and share your unique perspective with the world.

2) Set your boundaries.

Setting boundaries can be a powerful way to protect your authentic self and honor your needs and values. It can mean saying no to things that don't align with your priorities or taking time for self-care.

3) Be vulnerable.

Being vulnerable means being open and honest about your feelings, even if it means showing your weaknesses. This can be scary, but it can also be a powerful way to connect with others and build deeper relationships.

4) Avoid comparing yourself.

Comparing yourself to others can be a slippery slope. It can lead to feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem. It's important to focus on your own journey and celebrate your own accomplishments.

5) Stay true to yourself.

When you are true to yourself, you are more likely to attract people and opportunities that are aligned with your values and goals. This can lead to a more fulfilling and authentic life.

Once you find confidence in your intrinsic value, you’ll stop questioning your worth.
