How to Bounce Back from Languishing

Being in this pandemic for years, we’ve kind of adjusted already with the pandemic life. But we’ve also developed this emotion we coined “languishing” that pretty much captures that cycle of uncertainty we've all been going through. And on this episode, Alec and I talk about how can we pull ourselves together and fight this languishing every time we feel ‘blah’ through the PERMA model.

Some important reminders:

1) Recognize and acknowledge your emotions.

It is important to understand and acknowledge your emotions, even if they are negative or uncomfortable. It's the first step towards addressing them and finding solutions.

2) Know the role of social media.

Social media can create a sense of comparison and competition, leading to feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. If you feel that you’re in a languishing state, try to stay away from social media as much as you can.

3) Know the difference between languishing and depression.

While they share some similarities, languishing is a milder form of depression. Depression is characterized by more intense, persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and negativity.

When you plan for the future, it gives your present meaning.

How to conquer your power again:

1) Seek help and support.

It's okay to ask for help and support when you're feeling down or struggling with mental health. This can include talking to a therapist, reaching out to friends and family, or joining a support group.

2) Be kind to yourself.

Be compassionate, treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer to a friend. This can help reduce self-criticism and promote self-acceptance.

3) Promote positivity.

Have the power of gratitude! It can help shift your mindset towards positivity and appreciation.

4) Exercise.

Exercise can improve your mood, reduce stress, and boost your overall well-being.

5) Find your purpose.

Find things that gives you purpose and meaning, whether it's through work, hobbies, or personal relationships.

Success is useless if you don’t have people in your life to share it with.
